M. Shakir Azeez
Founder, Expert Maritime (Pvt) Ltd
Shakir Azeez is the founder of Expert Maritime (Pvt) Ltd (EMPL), a Sri Lankan freight forwarding and logistics company licensed as a Class A Freight Forwarder by the Director General of Merchant Shipping. He has more than 36 years of experience in shipping, freight forwarding, customs clearance, transportation and international logistics.
His career spans Sri Lanka and the Middle East, covering shipping operations, sales, business development and logistics. That combination of operational and commercial work has given him first-hand knowledge of how cargo actually moves: how shipments are booked, how trade documents are prepared, where customs delays come from, and what importers and exporters need to keep their supply chains running.
He founded EMPL in November 2019. Based in Colombo 03, the company provides sea and air freight, customs clearance, import and export services, warehousing and door-to-door logistics for businesses moving commercial cargo. He continues to lead the company's relationships with customers and international partners.
On empl.lk, he writes and reviews guides on customs clearance, freight forwarding, shipment tracking and importing into Sri Lanka, so the advice reflects how these processes work in practice rather than in theory.
